WHAT IT IS
"Covered" is a law enforcement chaplaincy based in Bedford, Virginia. It serves the men and women of the Town of Bedford Police Department and the Bedford County Sheriff's Office. The name is based on Psalm 91:4 which reads:

“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

WHO WE ARE
The officers of the Town of Bedford Police Department and the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office are served by the Chaplains of Covered Chaplaincy. Together, they represent more than 20 years of pastoral service, specifically serving law enforcement officers and first responders. The Chaplains feel passionately about the need to serve those that serve, providing first responders with a support system in times of crisis, mental and emotional health counseling, and spiritual encouragement. They work to bridge and promote healthy relationships between the police and the community.
WHAT WE DO
Police Chaplaincy is a ministry of presence…… just being present is sometimes enough to ease the stresses our first responders deal with on a daily basis. Our Chaplain often rides along with officers, providing them with opportunity to vent safely. They attend death and injury notifications, relieving them of carrying the emotional burden of that job. They also provide individuals with guidance and counsel, often during the worst times of their lives.
